For the second time in history after his predecessor retired President Mwai Kibaki, Uhuru Kenyatta graced the most important Commemoration Anniversary of the Kalenjin people. In its 112th event, the late shujaa Koitalel Arap Samoei was remembered as the hero that contributed to the Kenya’s independence by thwarting the white man’s colonialism.
His unmatched wisdom and aggressive efforts to attain freedom in the land of Kalenjin irked the white men, whose sophisticated weapons could not stop, outdo or even defeat the warriors in arrows, who followed the command and tricks Samoei told them. For the leader who was able to foresee the coming of the “white butterflies” (white colonialists) and a “very long snake” (railway), the coded language was well understood and interpreted by the community’s wise men, especially the elders.
The event was done in Nandi Hills town in the Koitalel Mausoleum. After the president and his deputy finished the paying tribute to the late legend, they proceeded to Nandi Bears Club for political rally where thousands welcomed them and assured the president for a re-election victory on 26th October repeat polls.
