YOUTH OF THE MONTH: Jeruto is “The Lupita of Kalenjin and Kenya” 6

Many Kalenjins do not know much about one of their daughter, and many Kenyans often despise beauty of a Kalenjin lady. Arise Nandi is changing the narrative. From a remote village in Elgeyo Marakwet, Magline Jeruto rose to fame when she bagged Miss Elgeyo Marakwet trophy. Her success did not end there. In Nairobi’s Westlands where Miss World Kenya competition was taking place, the beauty queen floored over 200 contestants to emerge the winner for Miss World Kenya 2017.

The 24 year old is heading to Sanya in China to participate in Miss World finals. She won the Kenyan title with a pledge to carry out a campaign against Autism, a condition of bio-neurological disorder that is observable in early childhood with symptoms of abnormal self-absorption, characterized by lack of response and limited ability to communicate and socialize.

“I am excited about the Sanya China competition. I am looking forward to meeting and interacting with other beauties from across the world, I mean we are over 155 of us and everyone is coming here to win. But as much as this is a competition, it will definitely be an experience for me”, she says.

Jeruto runs a project called Beauty with Purpose. Before, Kenya won Miss World Africa title that was scooped by Everlyn Njambi.

“I know that there is a task ahead of me and I am ready to take it up. I know I have a nation’s expectations on my shoulders and I’m well aware that would I win, then the crown would belong to all Kenyans and so, China, team Kenya here we come!” poses Magline with confidence.

She requests the public to support her by going to Miss world website www.missworld.com/#/contestants/4826 and vote for her! Let’s do this!
